Better late than never...

Hello. Please bear with me as these posts are late at best. It is more than difficult to run this boat and get these posted in a timely manner......

Jan 11, 2010

Our first trip is behind us, it went well. The voyage out was calm and we made good time. The fishing was not red hot, but steady, with pots averaging 300-400 crab each. After three days of grinding we filled the port side tanks (200,000 lbs) before the weather went to hell. The wind blew 50-60 knots for about 22 hours, in which we got nothing done, but it was a needed break in the middle of the trip. Once the weather died down we were back at it for another 3 1/2 days and then we headed to Trident Seafoods, in Akutan, to deliver. Trident was happy with the crab and the offload was uneventful. Once we made it back to Dutch Harbor we busied ourselves preparing for the film crew to board. One full load down, three more to go.

  1. Hey Capt Monte....Just catchin up on the happenings of late 2009 and the beginning of 2010 season as you see it. Sounds like ya been busy with appearances and work. Glad opies are off to a good start and hope all is still going well. I was wondering....how fast is the wind when talking knots....in terms of mph?? It sounds like a heck of a storm. Stay safe and hope ya all recieved the goodies from Wizettes and enjoyed them. Have a prosperous season! Wizette Sheila

  3. Why do starting comments overlap the blog itsself? Sorry....but i noticed it happened in earlier blog comments as well...strange...anyways, I meant to just say that hope all is goin well, you are safe, and the season is a banner year. Thanks for the updates Capt Monte....we appreciate it much...now, if your brother would post a blog as well, we could get perspectives from both Colburn boys...but phat chance of that happening....LOL...just kiddin! Seriously though, we really do appreciate you taking time out of your bust schedule and touching base with us all. Calm Seas! Please tell Travis "woot woot" for me. As always, Sheila Woasisss
